Claude Monet often and happily painted nature motifs, especially his own garden in Giverny with its water lilies, pond and bridge. He also painted the beaches along the Seine. Several of his paintings today belong to the world's most expensive paintings.
Claude Monet was born on November 14, 1840 in Paris. At first he was mainly engaged in figure painting but soon switched to landscape painting. He often painted series of the same motifs in different lighting conditions.
