    Who Was Alice Pike Barney?

    Alice Pike Barney (1857–1931) was an American artist and philanthropist who played an important role in Washington DC art life. She painted portraits and symbolist works with strong colors and imaginative motifs. Barney was committed to promoting art and culture in the United States and supported many young artists and projects.
