    Who was Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg?

    Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg (1783–1853) was a Danish artist and one of the most important figures in the Danish Golden Age of art. He is known as the "father of Danish painting" and played a key role in developing the realistic and neoclassical styles in Denmark. His works include everything from historical and religious subjects to portraits, landscapes and marine scenes.
