The motif consists of a large Christmas goat with long horns, next to a child in a red hat. Snowflakes fall over both and a cabin is visible in the background. This detailed poster by John Bauer from 1911 gives a Christmas feel and will be an atmospheric element in the home during the winter months. The painting was the cover image for "The Christmas Goat: A Christmas Magazine for Big and Small Children".
