Poster with the painting "Roses" by the American artist John Ferguson Weir from the year 1898. John Ferguson Weir was an American artist who was born in 1841 in West Point, New York. He was a realistic painter who often preferred landscapes and portraits as subjects. Weir studied art at the National Academy of Design and became a professor of art at Yale University. He was a pioneer of American academic art and taught craft and technique to many prominent American artists.
